Located almost equidistant from Mumbai and Pune, Kolad is the most popular and well known river rafting site in Maharashtra. An almost 13 km long river rafting trail in Kundalika offers some of the best rapids that one can negotiate in Maharashtra. Vaitarna is a dam controlled river and currently the only river in Maharashtra in which the dam releases water twice in a day enabling two batches of rafting trips one at 9.00 am and 2nd batch at 2:15 pm.
Water is released twice into the Vaitarna river from the dam generating exciting rapids . From the reporting point at Dhapura participants are offered a jeep safari to Savarkut village - the starting point of rafting. Rafting on the river lasts for 2 hours in which the raft covers about 11 kms on the water.
Rappelling in a 100 ft high waterfall is organized in Vihigaon which is a very exciting activity one could indulge in especially after monsoons when the river will be in its full force.
